Building safer cities

CPTED Architects and Auditors

Safety built into every building, from the first drawing.

A project of the Safer & Sustainable Cities Initiative, an ISAC Foundation centre. Our commitment for 2030: 2,500 CPTED Architects and Auditors.

The need and who it serves

Design prevents more crime than cameras, but almost no Indian city has a map of where and why its public spaces feel unsafe. We train auditors, publish the standard and map cities with their municipal bodies.

Who it serves
Residents, city bodies, transit operators
Where
Indian cities, by municipal partnership

What this project does

Like secure coding for software, safety has to be designed into a building while it is drawn. With sponsors, ISAC Foundation trains architects to design airports, hospitals, data centres, offices, homes and cities to SIDS, a modern CPTED standard, and auditors to rate them.
