Defining Works
The 100 comics that shaped each country's stories.
A project of the Culture & Creative Economy Initiative, an ISAC Foundation centre. Our commitment for 2030: 100 Defining Works Recorded.
The need and who it serves
Comics are the most read and the least preserved part of a country's story. They were printed on cheap paper and thrown away once read, publishers closed and sold their stock for scrap, and most creators were never credited, paid for reprints or recorded. We find each country's comics, scan them to archival standard, record its defining works and give every creator a lifelong record, free for anyone to read.
- Who it serves

- Where
- Every country, with World Comic Heritage
What this project does
In every country, World Comic Heritage finds the 100 comics that shaped its stories, archives them and records the people behind them, then brings them together into one global 100.
